Robots Service expanded thanks to Construction Supply Specialists

Canteen’s Robots Service can now expand thanks to a gala ball event held by Construction Supply Specialists (CSS) late last year. The company’s Melbourne Gala Ball raised more than $100K and was attended by over 300 guests from CSS's network of trade outlets and suppliers, who were entertained by Russell Morris and his band.

Canteen’s Robots Service is an initiative that aims to reduce feelings of isolation, anxiety, and depression among young cancer patients during their treatment. The service provides them with a telepresence robot that helps young people with cancer stay connected to their friends, family and school community.

The CSS Group has been actively fundraising for Canteen's young people and their families who are affected by cancer since 2019. The funds raised during the Gala ball bring their fundraising total to nearly $220k. Simon Davie, Head of Strategic Relationships at Canteen, expressed his gratitude towards CSS for their ongoing support:

“We can't thank CSS enough for their generosity. For so many years they have engaged their networks to ensure that young cancer patients receive the support they need during such a critical time in their lives. They are always looking for ways to help, however they can.” he said.

Paul Davy, CSS National Marketing Manager, acknowledged the effort involved in their fundraising events, stating, “Our fundraising events are a collective effort, and we're fortunate to have great members and supplier partners who also see the value and need in supporting a great organisation like Canteen.”

Thanks to the CSS team, and their guests at the Gala Ball, Canteen can continue to provide support to young cancer patients and move closer to the goal of ensuring that every young cancer patient aged 15-25 can access a robot free of charge if they need one.

Yet, sustained involvement in school or work can greatly enhance their psychological wellbeing and social integration.
